Today, we started out bright and early at the beach on the Elk's property. We had a lot of fun there again. Steve went Kayaking, Conner loved the sand and water as usual, and I spent my time taking pictures. We all had fun and it was a great morning.
Then, we drove into town to eat at US31 BBQ. It is a hole in the wall, but Steve remembers it from his past as one of his mom's favorite places. It was so awesome. It is family owned and operated. Conner had fell asleep on the way there, so I went in to place my order from their 10 item menu, then Steve was going to go in and place his. We didn't want to wake the monster. I told the gal that my husband would be in and she insisted on going out to him. So, she took the menu out to the truck and let him place his order. Talk about service. They serve thinly shaved meat on a bun then put their sauce on top of that which has cabbage and some type of mustard in it. Different from southern Indiana BBQ, but worth the experience. It was yummy. When they showed me how they do things there and showed me the sauce, I said "Maybe I'll do mine Plain." The man sitting at the bar said "honey, I have eaten here for 48 years trust me.... you want to get the sauce." So, I listened to the stranger and I am glad I did. It was YUMMY.
Later, we walked over to visit Conner's "Grandma Lanie." Steve stayed there to sleep in their basement so we could drive through the night. Aunt Elaine made dinner for Conner and I and we played until Steve woke up.
