Our Michigan Vacation started Tuesday night about 9 p.m. when we pulled out of Evansville. We chose to drive all night since Conner has a hard time sitting too long in a car seat. I don't blame him. He was out before we got down Vann to the Loyd. This was an hour past his bedtime, so he was tired. He only woke 3 times, trying to roll over to his belly which is his favorite way to sleep. When he realized he couldn't flop freely around, he would wake up and look at us like, "What are we doing in a truck at night.?" We stopped 3 times, for 15 minutes a piece to let him out and run the parking lots to stretch his legs. We would get back in the truck and he would go right back to sleep. We got to Michigan Wednesday morning at 4:30 a.m., Parked the camper, and climbed in it and slept till 10 a.m.
We went to Russ' for lunch and to see Cousin Mike. Then, we went to Uncle Paul and Aunt Elaine's house for a visit. Conner warmed right up to them and they became best friends. They had all the right toys and he loved it there. We walked back to our campsite and took a nap. Then, we went back to Uncle Paul and Aunt Elaine's for dinner. They made us baked spaghetti, fresh peaches, and Steve's Birthday cake. Conner was once again happy to be there.
Thursday morning, we walked to Lake Michigan from our campsite. We are camping right by the lake. Just up a hill and down a large staircase. We were the only ones on the beach for as far as the eye could see. It is very private at this spot. So peaceful and quiet. The weather was in the 70's and the water and sand were cold. We are not complaining. We have near record high heat all summer long in Indiana. We welcomed the cool temperatures.
That afternoon, we went to Grand Haven and walked all over town and to the Lighthouse. We saw a lot of cool things and the weather was perfect for a day full of strolling.
